HONG KONG – Exciting news for travellers! HK Express Airways has just welcomed its 10th Airbus A321neo aircraft, marking a pivotal moment for the airline as it expands its fleet and enhances connectivity to an impressive 31 destinations across Asia with a staggering 800 weekly flights.
With the latest addition, registration number B-KKJ, HK Express reinforces its position in the competitive aviation market. This state-of-the-art aircraft not only increases passenger capacity—boasting room for 236 travellers—but also showcases advanced technology aimed at enhancing efficiency and sustainability.
The aircraft was inspected and tested thoroughly by HK Express's expert engineering and pilot teams at the Airbus Delivery Center in Toulouse, France. After its arrival in Hong Kong, it underwent a rigorous maintenance regimen to ensure it meets the highest standards of safety and performance before taking to the skies on November 9.
Jeanette Mao, Chief Executive Officer of HK Express, expressed her excitement over this milestone: “As we continually introduce new routes, the arrival of our 10th Airbus A321neo represents a significant stride towards our ambitious goal of expanding our fleet to 40 aircraft. Within just a year and a half, we have added these ten A321neo aircraft, demonstrating our rapid growth in the industry.”
The airline currently serves over 15,000 passengers daily at Hong Kong International Airport, significantly contributing to the region’s bustling tourism sector. The expansion not only offers more travel options between Hong Kong and other hot Asian destinations but also creates fresh business opportunities, further stimulating the local economy.
Mao is optimistic about the future, particularly with the upcoming Three-runway System, and stated, “We are excited about the new opportunities this expansion will bring. Our continuous fleet growth, new routes, and enhanced flight network will provide passengers with more affordable and reliable travel options, solidifying Hong Kong's reputation as a premier international aviation hub.”
In addition to passenger comfort, the A321neo aligns with the airline's mission towards sustainability. Equipped with the latest LEAP-1A engines, these aircraft deliver up to 20% improved fuel efficiency compared to their predecessors—a crucial factor for environmentally-conscious travelers.
Currently, HK Express boasts a fleet of 39 aircraft, including six Airbus A320ceo, 10 A320neo, 13 A321ceo, and now, 10 A321neo, with an average fleet age of 7.3 years.
