Attention all Google Pixel users! If you've recently upgraded to Android 16 and are experiencing frustrating delays in waking up your device or navigating through the lock screen, you're certainly not alone.

Despite the fact that Android 16's initial rollout seems similar to Android 15 at first glance, there are notable changes happening under the surface. While the update is generally stable, a concerning issue has emerged for some users.

Reports have flooded in across various forums, including Google’s own discussion boards and Reddit, revealing that the display can be sluggish to awaken. This problem manifests when users tap the screen or press the power button, leaving Pixel devices in a state of limbo before they finally spring to life. Once the lock screen does activate, it tends to lag, making interactions feel frustratingly sluggish.

Many are scratching their heads over this glitch, as it disrupts the seamless experience Android is known for.

Interestingly, even my own Pixel 9 Pro Fold running the Android 16 QPR1 beta has fallen prey to this issue, proving it isn’t limited to just the stable version.

Some users have found that a simple reboot temporarily alleviates the problem, but it swiftly returns, indicating that it’s more than just a random hiccup. As of now, Google has yet to officially acknowledge the issue or hint at a remedy, but the surge of complaints suggests that a fix may be on the horizon.
