Hong Kong Set to Host Exciting APTRA Forum This December!

Mark your calendars! The Asia-Pacific Travel Association (APTRA) is bringing its highly anticipated Northeast Asia Forum to the bustling city of Hong Kong from December 3-5, 2025. This momentous event is set to take place in collaboration with the Airport Authority Hong Kong and Hong Kong International Airport.

Kicking off with an afternoon check-in and networking session at the luxurious Shangri-La Hotel in Kowloon, the excitement continues with an evening reception at the chic Mondrian Hotel nearby.

A Day Packed with Insights!

On December 4, attendees can look forward to a full day of engaging conference sessions, culminating in another evening reception back at the Shangri-La. Delegates will also enjoy a unique networking boat excursion, complete with lunch on the scenic Po Toi Island—the perfect backdrop for forging connections and discussions!

Unlocking the Future of Travel Retail!

This forum promises insightful plenary sessions featuring in-depth research and consumer insights focusing on the shifting travel priorities of Chinese consumers and other key demographic groups in the region. Expect enlightening analysis from retailers and brands as they share their strategies to navigate the Northeast Asia market in these pivotal years.

Sunil Tuli, APTRA president and group chief executive of King Power Group (Hong Kong), emphasizes the significant changes taking place: "The Northeast Asia market showcases striking contrasts. While we see a surge in Chinese travelers and overall mobility, travel retail spending remains stubbornly below pre-pandemic levels. We must address this gap and adapt our strategies to reignite growth."

With the rapid evolution of consumer behavior influenced by social media, there's an urgent need to rethink our approach. If we don't adapt swiftly, we risk losing the appeal of travel retail long before we reach the end of the decade.

A Hub for Innovation and Collaboration!

Alby Tsang, director of retail and property development at Hong Kong International Airport, shares his optimism, stating: "We are dedicated to innovating experiences that meet the changing expectations of global passengers. The Forum offers a critical platform for industry leaders to engage in discussions about retail innovation and the challenges posed by evolving market conditions. We eagerly anticipate collaborative conversations about the future of travel retail!"
