In a heartfelt tribute, Jeremy Miller, beloved for his role as Ben Seaver on the classic sitcom *Growing Pains*, opened up about how the late Alan Thicke helped him during a critical period in his life.
During a recent interview with Youngstown Studio, Miller shared his gratitude for Thicke, who portrayed his on-screen father. He described him as one of the "most caring, generous, loving men you could ever know." This acknowledgment came as Miller candidly discussed his battles with addiction.
Miller revealed that after the 2008 economic crash led to the downfall of his catering business, he found himself on the verge of homelessness. In his moment of desperation, he reached out to Thicke, who immediately stepped in to assist.
"After the crash, I was really struggling—like, seriously struggling," Miller recalled. He mentioned that all it took was one phone call to Thicke. "Alan set up interviews with his restaurant buddies in Santa Barbara and helped me reconnect with opportunities to put my chef skills to use. He was on the phone for the next two days, making connections to help me out—he truly was that kind of guy."
Thicke, who sadly passed away in 2016 from a heart attack at the age of 69, not only left behind a legacy of laughter but also exemplified genuine kindness and support, especially for those in need.
Miller expressed shock at Thicke's untimely passing, reflecting, "We really thought he’d be our next Dick Clark, you know? 102 and still going strong." He fondly remembered how Thicke would check in on him, filling a fatherly role in his life. "He was my other dad," Miller said sincerely.
As fans and friends continue to remember Thicke, Miller’s story serves as a powerful reminder of the profound impact one individual can have on another's life during their darkest moments.
