Have you ever thought boredom could spark creativity? For Guillaume Broche, the director of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, that was precisely the case. In 2020, while feeling uninspired at Ubisoft, the home of iconic franchises like Assassin's Creed and Just Dance, Broche envisioned a groundbreaking RPG.

Motivated by a desire for something fresh, he sought to create a game infused with the spirit of his beloved Final Fantasy. To make this dream a reality, Broche needed a creative team.

The recruitment process took an unexpected turn when writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen responded to one of his Reddit posts, originally aiming to lend her voice as a character. Little did she know, this initial audition would lead her to become the project’s lead writer!

But that was just the beginning. Broche also discovered talented composer Lorien Testard through Bandcamp, despite his lack of video game experience. "Our team mainly consists of juniors, yet their passion and talent are extraordinary," Broche expressed proudly.

Fast forward to just a couple of weeks ago, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 launched to phenomenal success, selling a staggering 1 million copies almost immediately. Initially, there were concerns that the surprise release of Oblivion Remastered might overshadow Broche's RPG, but the publisher, Kepler Interactive, assured fans that it had no negative impact.

Dive into the enchanting world of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Best of all, it’s part of the Game Pass library, making it more accessible than ever for gamers eager to explore its captivating universe!
