Hong Kong is getting a festive upgrade this winter, thanks to the creative minds at the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), in collaboration with Grey Hong Kong, Hongkong Post, and Carat Hong Kong. This year's WinterFest promises to transform everyday city icons into magical delights, bringing joy and excitement to residents and visitors alike.

Traditionally, winter in Hong Kong dazzles with spectacular lights and beautiful decorations. However, in a bid to infuse the familiar with wonder, WinterFest 2023 introduces a fresh and vibrant perspective. Expect to see a reinterpretation of ordinary sights around the city into extraordinary festive surprises that are sure to delight.

Rick Kwan, executive creative director of Grey Hong Kong, stated, "Winter is a time for joy and connection, and WinterFest is about offering a unique surprise during this traditional holiday season. We aimed to highlight the beauty of Hong Kong’s festive traditions while illustrating that even common features, such as mailboxes and trams, can evoke wonder when given a playful twist."

Among the standout transformations this year are the iconic mailboxes, which have been creatively reimagined as “Postmas Trees.” Meanwhile, the city's beloved trams will chime a cheerful holiday tune with their signature ‘ding-ding’. Additionally, classic postcards have been given a festive makeover with bright filters, inviting everyone to experience new perspectives on Hong Kong's stunning holiday scenery.

Samantha Fan, the general manager for marketing at the Hong Kong Tourism Board, expressed her enthusiasm for the event: "Our goal is to showcase the unique charm of Hong Kong while spreading festive cheer throughout the city. The collaboration with Hongkong Post has allowed us to creatively adorn iconic city landmarks, celebrating the city’s ingenuity and enhancing the festive spirit this season."
