Huge Update: Trainer Level Cap in Pokémon Go Expanded!

Get ready, trainers! Pokémon Go is about to supercharge your gameplay with an exciting expansion to the trainer level cap. As of October 15th, the maximum level you can achieve is jumping from 50 to an astounding 80!

Why this change? The update aims to rebalance the level-up curve, allowing trainers to level up more frequently with less XP required for each advancement. This means if you've already amassed a hefty amount of XP past level 50, you may find yourself soaring to higher levels automatically!

New Tasks and Opportunities Await!

Niantic is set to unveil more details about the new levels soon. But here’s what we know now: while the Level-Up Research tasks for levels 41 to 50 will be phased out, exciting new tasks will emerge for levels 71 to 80. Plus, trainers who reach level 70 will get a special bonus—a higher chance of becoming Lucky Friends!

What’s Gone and What’s New?

With every update comes a bit of change. Notably, the coveted level 50 exclusive jacket will no longer be obtainable, although those who already have it can keep wearing it. Moreover, avatar items earned by reaching levels 40-50 before the update will disappear after October 15th.

Celebrate with Extra XP!

To help everyone prepare for this leveling frenzy, Pokémon Go is rolling out an XP Celebration event! Happening from August 25th to October 14th, trainers can snag extra XP through various bonuses, including: - 2x Catch XP for Nice, Great, and Excellent throws - +3000 XP for winning raids - +3000 XP for dominating Max Battles - Level-Up Research update for level 48 is now cut down from walking 25km eight times to just twice!

Don’t Worry About Pokémon Levels!

And for those of you wondering, rest assured: this Trainer Level change does not affect Pokémon levels, which will remain capped at level 50. Get ready to rise through the ranks and become the ultimate Pokémon master!
