Baseball fans, hold onto your seats! Elly De La Cruz, the Cincinnati Reds sensation, showcased his arm strength in a way that left everyone astounded during Saturday's 11-1 rout of the Tigers.

In a pivotal moment in the third inning, with the score still tied, De La Cruz unleashed a jaw-dropping 98.3 mph relay throw to home plate, cutting down Javier Báez who was trying to score from first base. As Trey Sweeney’s hit ricocheted off the right field wall, Jake Fraley expertly fielded it and sent it to De La Cruz, who was positioned behind second base.

Without missing a beat, De La Cruz sent a missile home, so fast that Báez hadn’t even entered the frame when catcher Jose Trevino tagged him out. This play is just another highlight in De La Cruz’s growing reputation for mind-boggling throws.

Since making his MLB debut in 2023, De La Cruz has already thrown four of the five hardest infield assists recorded in the Statcast era, solidifying himself as one of the most electrifying players in the game. His previous throws this season include an outrageous 99.8 mph throw just a few weeks earlier.

Interestingly, the only other comparable throw by a major leaguer in the last decade came from Gabriel Arias of the Guardians, who managed a similar feat in 2024.

But De La Cruz wasn’t done dazzling fans just yet. He also blasted a home run for the third consecutive game, lifting his team-high total to 15 home runs this season. The ball left his bat at a staggering 110.1 mph and traveled an impressive 402 feet.

Known for his extraordinary arm strength, De La Cruz has even caught the attention of celebrities. Last June, Snoop Dogg, who was commentating a Reds-Brewers game, couldn’t believe his eyes as he witnessed De La Cruz’s amazing play. “Who is that with that rocket? Oh lord, he got a rocket in his pocket!” Snoop exclaimed, echoing the sentiments of fans everywhere as they watch this remarkable talent continue to rise.
