The Road World Championships Kick Off with a Bang!

The UCI Road World Championships are set to electrify Rwanda as the elite cyclists prepare for the exhilarating individual time trials on Sunday, September 21. Kigali 2025 promises to deliver an unforgettable start to the championships!

A Tough Course Awaits: Will Riders Conquer the Challenge?

This year's time trials showcase one of the most daunting courses in recent history, stretching from the iconic BK Arena to the Kigali Convention Centre. The women face a grueling 31.2-kilometer race, while the men must tackle 40.6 kilometers of relentless climbs.

With a total ascent of 460 meters for women and a staggering 680 meters for men, this course is anything but flat! Competitors will need a solid pacing strategy to navigate the tough cobbled climbs, particularly the notorious Côte de Kimihurura that looms ominously at the finish.

Meet the Trailblazers: Women’s Time Trial Starters!

Rwanda's own Xaveline Nirere kicks off the women’s competition at 10:22 AM local time, making her the first rider to unleash her speed at this prestigious event. Keep an eye on the 23-year-old as she sets the stage for what promises to be an action-packed race.

Following her lead, last year's world champion Grace Brown will not defend her title, but two former champions are hungry to reclaim glory. Anna van der Breggen, who triumphed in 2020, is set to start at 11:20, while Chloé Dygert, with victories in both 2019 and 2023, charges off at 12:07.

Can the Underdogs Prevail?

Marlen Reusser, arguably the greatest time trialist never to have secured a world title, will set off at 11:55, aiming to finally don the coveted rainbow jersey. Keeping the pressure on, Demi Vollering will take the course as the last competitor at 12:10!

And Now, the Men’s Elite Time Trial!

In the afternoon, the men will showcase their speed, starting at 1:45 PM local time with Rwanda's talented rider Shemu Nsengiyumva leading the pack.

While defending champion Remco Evenepoel is poised to make his mark at 4 PM, he’ll have solid competition from Tour de France winner Tadej Pogačar, who will race just three minutes earlier at 3:57 PM.

Exciting New Talent on the Rise!

The elite debut of French cycling prodigy Paul Seixas, fresh off a junior title, adds an intriguing twist to the event as he bypasses the U23 category. Spain's Iván Romeo, another rising star with world championship accolades, is also set to make his mark, racing at 15:15 and 15:42 respectively.

With other notable contenders like Jay Vine and Isaac Del Toro, this time trial promises to be a thrilling spectacle!

Get Ready for an Epic Cycling Showdown!

The Kigali 2025 time trials are shaping up to be an unforgettable clash of speed, strategy, and sheer determination. As the clock ticks down, fans worldwide are bracing for an exhilarating display of talent!
