Exciting New Service Launch
HONG KONG, 10 April 2025: In a bold move to connect Southeast Asia with one of China's busiest economic hubs, Cambodia Airways has proudly inaugurated a new route from Phnom Penh to Hong Kong, offering travelers three flights a week!
Strategic Expansion into the Greater Bay Area
This new service is Cambodia Airways' third direct connection to cities within China’s dynamic Greater Bay Area (GBA), known for its massive economic activity and export prowess. The airline already serves major cities like Shenzhen and Guangzhou, enhancing its footprint in this vibrant region.
The GBA: A Megalopolis of Opportunities
The Greater Bay Area is not just an economic powerhouse; it is home to approximately 86 million people across nine cities in Guangdong province, plus the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau. This megalopolis represents the largest and most densely populated urban area in the world, making it a crucial destination for both business and tourism.
Flight Details and Competition Ahead
Kicking off on April 1st, the Phnom Penh to Hong Kong flights operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, utilizing a comfortable A319 aircraft with a capacity for 150 passengers. However, this new route won't come without its challenges, as Cambodia Airways will contend with fierce competition from Cathay Pacific, which boasts ten weekly flights to Phnom Penh.
Fare and Travel Insights
With average roundtrip fares landing at around USD 420, travelers have a new option to consider for their journeys between Cambodia's capital and one of Asia’s key international gateways. Will you be among the first to experience this new route?
