CLEVELAND, Ohio – Halftime insights from the nail-biting clash where the Green Bay Packers barely led 3-0 against the Cleveland Browns.
The first half was a defensive showcase, as neither team found the end zone. The lone points were scored by Green Bay's Brandon McManus, who nailed a 39-yard field goal.
The Browns' defense showcased its prowess, stifling the Packers to a mere 91 total yards and racking up three sacks on quarterback Jordan Love.
On offense, however, the Browns struggled to gain momentum against a relentless Green Bay defense. Quinshon Judkins managed just 24 yards on eight carries, and veteran quarterback Joe Flacco completed 11 of 16 passes for 87 yards.
In a strategic move, the Browns positioned Dawand Jones at right tackle—his natural position from his Ohio State days. Sadly, that plan was short-lived as Jones exited early with a knee injury. The Browns were already missing Jack Conklin due to an elbow issue.
With Jones sidelined, KT Leveston took over at right tackle while Cornelius Lucas slid into the left tackle role. This was only Leveston's second career NFL game; Lucas, a seasoned 12-year veteran, has seen considerable action with 55 starts.
This shifting offensive line setup has made life tough for Flacco, especially against a Packers squad that entered the game boasting eight sacks and over 30 pressures.
The Browns struck first on defense with a sack against Love by Mason Graham and Maliek Collins in the first quarter. They had another opportunity for a sack in the second quarter when rookie Carson Schwesinger blitzed Love, but a too-many-men penalty thwarted that play.
Luckily, the pressure didn’t relent, as Alex Wright managed to sack Love later in the second quarter without any penalties, highlighting the Browns' tenacity.
As the halftime whistle blew, the question loomed: Can the Browns turn this defensive legacy into offensive success and emerge as a formidable contender this season?
