Chaos erupted at St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport Friday afternoon as a bomb threat prompted an emergency closure, sending passengers into a frenzy.
Around 4:30 p.m., Allegiant Air Flight 2006 was ready to take off for Cincinnati when a flight attendant discovered a chilling message—an explicit bomb threat scribbled on a lavatory door. Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri revealed that the threat was directed at all Allegiant aircraft at the airport, heightening concerns among travelers.
Fortunately, with around 170 passengers aboard the flight, no injuries were reported. Law enforcement sprang into action, with bomb-sniffing dogs meticulously searching the aircraft and working alongside local agencies to ensure safety.
Sheriff Gualtieri assured the public, stating, 'It’s an active and ongoing investigation, but I can confidently say there is no immediate threat to anyone at the airport or on any of those planes.' However, authorities haven't made any arrests yet, although they are investigating some individuals whose behavior raised suspicions.
As of now, the airport is set to resume normal operations, but the investigation continues. Stay tuned for updates as the authorities work to resolve this unsettling incident!
