In a thrilling victory for the Fighting Illini, head coach Brad Underwood announced on Monday that standout guard Andrej Stojakovic has signed a Big Ten Athletics Aid Agreement with the University of Illinois and is set to join the team as a key transfer.

Standing tall at 6 feet 7 inches and weighing 205 pounds, Stojakovic hails from Carmichael, California. He arrives at Illinois as a seasoned junior after a breakout season with Cal, building on his early career that kicked off at Stanford.

Underwood couldn’t hide his excitement, proclaiming, "Andrej is a veteran, proven scorer who excels in all areas: catch and shoot, off the dribble, and post-ups. His size and skill set make him a valuable asset on the perimeter, coupled with impressive ball-handling and defensive abilities."

Last season, Stojakovic made waves at Cal, averaging an impressive 17.9 points per game, ranking him sixth in the ACC. He showcased his scoring prowess by hitting double digits in 25 out of 29 games, including an astounding three games with over 30 points. He rounded off the season with a breathtaking career-high of 37 points against Stanford in the ACC Tournament, solidifying his name on the All-Tournament First Team.

On top of his scoring achievements, Stojakovic was named to the NABC All-Pacific District Second Team and received an All-ACC Honorable Mention. His season averages include 17.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game. He led his team in blocks with an impressive 34, even recording a career-high six blocks in a game against Notre Dame.

Stojakovic’s college journey began at Stanford, where he started 10 out of 32 games in his freshman year, averaging 7.8 points and 3.4 rebounds. His on-court potential was evident, highlighted by a standout 20-point game against USC.

Across 61 college games spanning two seasons, he has averaged 12.6 points and 4.0 rebounds, shooting 42% overall, 32.1% from beyond the arc, and 76.6% from the free-throw line.

Notably, Stojakovic is the son of NBA legend Peja Stojakovic, a celebrated three-time All-Star and 2011 NBA champion with the Dallas Mavericks.

This signing marks the second critical transfer for the Illini, following the addition of Zvonimir Ivisic from Arkansas. With Illinois coming off a strong season of 22 wins and an NCAA Tournament Second Round appearance, the Fighting Illini continue to assert their dominance in the Big Ten under Underwood, aiming for another stellar season ahead!
