The Chicken Jockey has galloped into the record books, with ‘A Minecraft Movie’ raking in an impressive estimated $550.6 million globally. Out of this staggering figure, a remarkable $269.6 million comes from international markets.

In its second weekend, this blockbuster from Warner Bros. and Legendary pulled in $79.6 million across 76 international box office markets, though it experienced a 42% drop excluding China. Against a backdrop of geopolitical tensions, it still clinched the No. 1 spot in the international market on both Saturday and Sunday, standing strong against local competitors.

When comparing its performance to similar films, 'A Minecraft Movie' is soaring above expectations. It is currently outpacing notable hits such as ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ (by 229%), ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ (76%), and several others. The top five markets contributing to this success include the UK ($39.8M), China ($20.3M), Germany ($18.9M), Mexico ($18.7M), and Australia ($18.5M). IMAX earnings stand at a global total of $26.6 million, including $9.6 million from international screens.

With school holidays in full swing in many countries, particularly leading into Easter, the film's midweek performance looks promising. Excitingly, Japan and Korea will release their versions at the end of the month, adding to the anticipation.

Meanwhile, the new release this weekend was 'The Amateur' from Disney, which debuted with $17.2 million across 52 international markets, slightly above projections and bringing its worldwide total to $32.2 million. Starring Rami Malek, it secured the No. 2 slot in most offshore markets, trailing only ‘A Minecraft Movie’. The film has shown particularly strong performance in Europe and Latin America.

Directed by James Hawes, 'The Amateur' ranked as the second highest non-local film in major European countries like France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK. It opened 8% ahead of ‘The Accountant' at similar rates.

In Latin America, it also debuted strong, particularly in Mexico, Argentina, and other regional hot spots, while it demonstrated solid numbers in the Asia-Pacific region, being well-received in countries that have previously embraced Malek's films.

The film's top openings came from France ($1.6M), the UK ($1.4M), Mexico ($1.4M), and Germany ($1.1M), with audiences skewing towards an adult demographic.

Going back to ‘A Minecraft Movie’, it recently expanded into Indonesia, grossing $1.3 million. This figure is comparable to other hits from the franchise and shows impressive growth.

Regionally, Europe experienced a robust drop of only 41% from its opening weekend. The film's solid performance across regions highlights its family-friendly appeal, with significant showings even in the usually quick-burn Middle East. Overall, it continues to dominate in Latin America with a 69% share of the top films, while performing exceptionally well in the Asia-Pacific region with only a 37% drop on its second weekend. In China, it is the top foreign import of the year, placing seventh overall for 2025—even amongst Chinese New Year titles.
