As the 49ers gear up for the upcoming season, receiver Jauan Jennings found himself in a precarious position. Initially seeking either a new contract or a trade during training camp, he ended up with neither. However, a silver lining has emerged!

In a move to keep Jennings motivated, the 49ers have enriched his 2025 contract with a whopping $3 million in play-time incentives, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. While the specific benchmarks for these incentives remain under wraps, there’s no doubt they add some flair to his existing deal.

Previously, Jennings was set to earn $7.4 million this year under the two-year agreement he signed in 2024. With this new incentive, he could potentially rake in up to $10.4 million!

Last season, Jennings was on fire, posting career highs with 77 catches, 975 yards, and six touchdowns. Despite this, he turned down a multi-year contract offer, setting his sights on free agency once again in 2025.

Complicating matters, Jennings has been nursing a calf injury, limiting his participation in both training camp and the preseason. Nevertheless, he’s been listed as a starting receiver for the 49ers as they prepare for their season opener against the Seahawks.

The combination of a newly incentivized contract and the chance to shine on the field might just be the push Jennings needs to elevate his game this season!
