The results were alarming! On Earth, the muscle tissues from the younger group were nearly twice as robust as those from the older group. However, once in the microgravity environment of the International Space Station (ISS), those vibrant young muscle samples deteriorated to resemble the weakened state of the older adults. Additionally, microgravity altered protein levels, decreasing them in the younger samples, and influenced gene expression linking to inflammation and cellular stress.
