Big news for wellness enthusiasts in Vancouver: the much-anticipated floating sauna barge, courtesy of Havn, has hit a major snag!
The company had set its sights on replicating its successful setup in Victoria at False Creek, but it appears their plans have sailed into troubled waters.
In a candid Instagram video, CEO Nick Van Buren revealed that after three and a half months of negotiation, the lease agreement fell through. "So the location at False Creek/Plaza of Nations has fallen through. We've been working on a lease contract, and unfortunately, it went south," he shared.
With no lease signed, the company is forced to cancel their development permit application to the city. "We're cancelling our development permit, so we've got nowhere to put the barge, sorry Vancouver," Van Buren said, expressing his disappointment.
However, the saga doesn’t end here; Havn is now actively on the lookout for a new location to anchor their floating oasis. Van Buren even humorously appealed to the community, saying, "If you've got a rich uncle who owns a marina, tell him to call us because we've got nowhere to go!"
Stay tuned, Vancouver—Havn might be down but certainly not out! Who knows? Their next location could surprise us all!
