Vancouver to Showcase Canada’s Largest Drone Show This Month!
Get ready, Vancouver! This month, the city will be ablaze with lights—not from the spectacular aurora borealis, not from a supermoon, and certainly not from pesky fireworks. Instead, it will be home to Canada’s largest-ever drone show! Mark your calendars for an unforgettable experience that you won’t want to miss.
As part of the festivities leading up to the Canadian Football League (CFL) Grey Cup championship game set for November 17 at BC Place, various exciting events will light up the city. Among them, the epic drone show will take place on November 13 at 8:30 PM over the stunning Vancouver Convention Centre. Imagine 1,000 drones dazzling the night sky in a breathtaking display that will celebrate the vibrant Canadian spirit.
Royce Chwin, President of Destination Vancouver, emphasizes the significance of this mesmerizing event. “This incredible performance will not only showcase the technological marvel of drones but also honour the Grey Cup tradition that unites fans from coast to coast for an extraordinary week of fun and festivities.”
Audiences should position themselves along the nearby seawall and the Westin Bayshore Hotel for optimal viewing. Do remember, this awe-inspiring performance is weather-dependent; if the skies decide to act up, the show could be rescheduled for November 15.
Exciting Street Festival Kicks Off the Fun!
But wait, there’s more! On November 13, a free street festival will kick off at 6 PM, transforming Canada Place Way into a hub of entertainment and activities. Enjoy a plethora of options, from two free ziplines cutting through the festival to a lineup of live performances. Be ready for a star-studded evening with headliners including Felix Cartal—who will launch the kickoff party—followed by Delhi 2 Dublin on November 14, the electrifying Dear Rouge on November 15, and Chad Brownlee closing off the festivities on November 16. Daily concerts will start at 11:15 AM, culminating with the headliners taking the stage at 7:30 PM.
Additionally, families can explore a dedicated indoor zone at the east building of the Vancouver Convention Centre. This space will feature engaging activities such as a climbing wall, a mini-field, and an obstacle course. Don’t miss out on the “Ultimate CFL Experience,” where fans can put their athletic prowess to the test with activities encompassing passing, catching, and running.
The festival will also host an Indigenous marketplace and a global pavilion, bringing together diverse cultures and artisans to showcase their crafts, creating an enriching experience for all attendees.
Vancouver’s Grey Cup festival promises to be a thrilling celebration, bringing together sports, entertainment, and community spirit. Stay tuned for an incredible week filled with electrifying performances and spectacular sights as we kick off an unforgettable Grey Cup experience! Will you be there to witness history?
