Urgent Recall: Ford, Acura, and Land Rover Models at Risk of Safety Hazards!
In a concerning safety alert, Ford, Acura, and Land Rover have announced recalls for multiple vehicle models in Canada due to various serious safety risks that could endanger drivers and passengers alike.
Ford's Cautionary Recall
Ford Canada has recalled four of its 2024 vehicle models, specifically targeting those equipped with 3.5-litre turbo engines. The manufacturer has highlighted worrying issues that could lead to potential crashes or even vehicle fires.
The official recall notice details that "the rear engine cup plug may not have been installed properly," which could result in engine oil leakage. This leakage can not only diminish power to the wheels, increasing the likelihood of a crash but also poses a fire risk—an alarming combination for any driver.
Affected models include the popular Ford F-150, the F-150 police interceptor truck, the Ford Expedition, and the Lincoln Navigator. Though the F-150 frequently tops the charts as one of Canada’s best-selling vehicles, this recall is estimated to affect only about 340 units.
Ford plans to notify affected owners by mail, urging them to bring their vehicles to authorized dealers for inspection and necessary repairs. Notably, this recall was initially issued in November 2023 but received an update shortly before Christmas.
Acura's Warning for TLX Owners
In a separate recall, Acura has prompted owners of 2021-2023 TLX sedans to examine their vehicles closely due to a possible defect with the fuel filler neck. Parent company Honda reported that the fuel filler neck may not have been welded properly to the fuel tank, risking fuel leaks that could potentially ignite and cause fire hazards.
Like Ford, Acura will notify owners in writing to encourage dealership inspections and any required replacements. This recall was first announced on December 19, 2023.
Land Rover's Rearview Camera Concerns
Land Rover is also in the spotlight, recalling newer model Range Rovers due to potential water leaks that could obscure or entirely block rearview camera functionality. A malfunctioning rearview camera significantly impairs a driver’s ability to see behind the vehicle, raising the stakes for crashes, particularly when reversing.
Land Rover has assured owners that they will receive notification by mail, though it’s still unclear what the specific remedy will be, as solutions to this issue are "under development."
Stay Informed, Stay Safe
Vehicle safety should always be a top priority. If you own one of the affected models, be vigilant for any official communication from the manufacturers and follow their instructions to safeguard yourself and your passengers. Remember, staying informed isn’t just about keeping up with the news; it could save your life!
