Measles Outbreak Sparks Concern in Southern Alberta

Attention residents of southern Alberta! Alberta Health Services has reported a confirmed case of measles, with alarming exposure sites identified across Lethbridge, Taber, and Coaldale from April 20th to 29th.

Locations and Times of Concern

If you visited the Coaldale Health Centre Ambulatory Clinic on April 20th between 5:30 PM and 10:30 PM, or on April 25th between 6:05 PM and 9:07 PM, you may have been exposed. Further potential exposure occurred at the Taber Walmart on April 26th from 3 PM to 5:30 PM, the Movie Mill in Lethbridge on April 27th between 6:50 PM and 10 PM, and Hudson's Bay in Lethbridge on April 29th from 5 PM to 7:30 PM.

Are You at Risk?

Health officials are urging anyone born in or after 1970 who has received fewer than two doses of the measles vaccine to be vigilant. If you were in these locations during the specified times, it's crucial to monitor for symptoms.

Watch Out for These Symptoms!

Measles symptoms can appear 7 to 14 days after exposure and may include fever, persistent cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a distinctive blotchy red rash. If you notice any of these signs, stay home and immediately reach out to Health Link at 811 for guidance.
