Attention Sechelt Residents!

Vancouver Coastal Health has issued a crucial warning for anyone who dined at Pepper Creek Pizza & Pasta on the Sunshine Coast Highway. If you indulged in salads there over the past month, you could be at risk of hepatitis A exposure!

What You Need to Know

This caution follows a similar alert about a food truck in nearby Gibsons, highlighting growing concerns about food safety in the region. The health authority clarifies that only those who enjoyed salads between July 31 and August 14, as well as from August 23 to 29, should be particularly vigilant.

Protect Yourself!

If you consumed salad during the specified time frames, immediate vaccination is recommended. The good news? The hepatitis A vaccine can effectively prevent infection if received within two weeks of possible exposure.

Keep an Eye Out for Symptoms!

While the risk of transmission is considered low, it's crucial to remain alert to potential symptoms of hepatitis A, including fatigue, loss of appetite, unexplained weight loss, abdominal pain near the ribs, muscle aches, and jaundice (which leads to yellowing of the skin and eyes).

Stay Informed and Safe!

This warning underscores the importance of food safety and monitoring your health. Let’s keep our community safe and healthy!
