Sun Peaks Health Centre Seeks New Medical Talent!
Sun Peaks, B.C. — Exciting news for medical professionals! The Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality (SPMRM) has officially kicked off its search for new family physicians to take over the Sun Peaks Community Health Centre, located at 3115 Creekside Way.
In a groundbreaking request for proposals (RFP), SPMRM is inviting qualified family physicians to lease and operate this clinic, offering a unique opportunity to blend small-town healthcare with the vibrant lifestyle of a bustling four-season resort.
What’s the Demand?
At a minimum, the municipality is looking for a Family Practice physician or Nurse Practitioner to deliver essential primary and urgent care services five days a week. The selected operator will also need to accommodate walk-in and urgent care services seven days a week, ensuring that both residents and visitors have access to crucial healthcare.
Expanding Healthcare Services!
As the clinic evolves, there’s a plan to broaden the range of healthcare services. This includes integrating mental health support, physiotherapy, and allied health services to meet the growing needs of the community.
Focus on Resident Care
An essential requirement for the new operator will be to prioritize healthcare for permanent residents to maintain continuity of care within this charming locale.
Unique Collaboration Opportunities!
There’s even more to the role! Physicians will have the exciting option to collaborate with the Sun Peaks Resort Ski Patrol, managing acute trauma cases directly on the slopes. While advanced trauma life support certification isn’t a must at the start, it’s expected to be completed within the first year.
Why Apply?
The successful candidates will gain collegial access to specialists at the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, along with the flexibility to incorporate tele-health services into their practice.
Important Deadlines!
Interested applicants have until September 30 to submit their proposals. The current clinic operator, Supporting Team Excellence with Patients Society (STEPS), will conclude its operations on October 10, vacating the clinic by October 22.
What’s Next?
Mayor Rob O'Toole expressed his commitment to minimizing disruptions in local healthcare services during this transition period. He noted the vital role that STEPS has played in the community since 2023 and remains optimistic about the future as new operators are sought.
This is a tremendous opportunity for physicians ready to embrace the vibrant lifestyle of Sun Peaks while making a meaningful impact on the community’s health. Act fast—this could be the change you’ve been waiting for!
