A staff member at a Toronto establishment has tested positive for measles, raising concerns about public exposure at key locations on Friday, March 21. The affected venues include:

- Pizzeria Libretto, located at 155 University Ave., between approximately 11:50 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

- VIA Rail Canada Train 82 (Train Car 3) traveling from London to Toronto, from about 6:05 a.m. to 10:50 a.m.

- VIA Rail Canada Train 83 (Train Car 3) returning from Toronto to London, between 4:10 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Understanding Measles Transmission

Measles is known for being extremely contagious and can spread through the air when an infected individual breathes, coughs, sneezes, or even talks. The virus remains viable in the air and on surfaces for up to two hours. Those who may have been in close proximity to the infected person are at risk, especially if they are not adequately vaccinated.

- Small blue-white spots, known as Koplik spots, which may appear inside the mouth

Measles vaccinations are generally administered in two doses: the first at 12 months of age and a second between four and six years old.
