In a critical public health announcement, Alberta Health Services (AHS) is sounding the alarm about potential measles exposures across three communities in the Peace Country. Residents and visitors are urged to stay vigilant!
Possible Exposure Locations and Dates
Multiple locations in and around Grande Prairie have been identified as possible sites of exposure. Notably, if you visited the Real Canadian Superstore on May 24 between 1 p.m. and 3:45 p.m., or the McDonald's on 100 Street late on May 25 from 9 p.m. to midnight, you may need to take precautions. Further, the Cobblestone Starbucks saw potential exposure on May 29 from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., followed by Wok Box on 104A Avenue from 3:30 p.m. to 6:10 p.m.
The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital has also reported multiple exposure periods. These include: - From May 25 at 10 p.m. to May 26 at 8 a.m. - May 26 between 7 p.m. and May 27 at 9 a.m. - May 28 from 7 p.m. until May 29 at 9 a.m.
In addition, the Emergency Department of Grande Prairie Regional Hospital had exposure risks between 6:30 p.m. on May 27 and 3 a.m. on May 28.
Further Exposures in Fort Vermilion
The alert extends to St. Theresa General Hospital's Emergency Department in Fort Vermilion, with possible exposures occurring on: - May 23, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:21 p.m. - May 24, from 6:35 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. - May 27, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:26 p.m.
