Alberta Health Services (AHS) has issued a critical warning to residents of Calgary regarding potential exposure to measles following a confirmed case within the city.

The individual diagnosed with measles frequented several public spaces while infectious, leaving a trail of risk for unsuspecting patrons. If you visited any of the following venues during the specified timeframes, you may be at risk of exposure to this highly contagious disease:

AHS emphasizes that individuals born in or after 1970 who have received less than two doses of the measles vaccine should take immediate precautions. Self-monitoring for symptoms is highly recommended.

Know the Symptoms!

Measles symptoms can take up to three weeks to manifest. Be on the lookout for the following signs: - High fever (38.3°C or more) - Cough, runny nose, or red eyes - A spotty rash that usually begins behind the ears and on the face—spreading downwards to the body, arms, and legs after 3 to 7 days.

Rising Concern in Alberta!

Alberta has recently witnessed a surge in measles cases, approaching an alarming total of 1,300 since March. While the infection is spreading across various regions, over 750 cases have been reported in the South Zone, and nearly 330 in the North Zone, with most cases outside Calgary and Edmonton.
