The watch industry is buzzing with excitement following the unveiling of the Angelus Chronographe Télémètre, hailed as one of the top standout pieces at this year's Watches & Wonders. Angelus, a historic name in horology, has been renowned for its remarkable chronographs since its inception. Though the brand was revived in 2015 with contemporary designs that captured some attention, it wasn’t until the launch of the La Fabrique collection in 2023 that Angelus found its footing in creating pieces that resonate with vintage enthusiasts. The recent introductions of models like the compact Chronographe Médical and the Instrument de Vitesse chronograph have further solidified Angelus's status in the luxury watch market.

The latest addition, the Angelus Chronographe Télémètre, charmingly merges past inspiration with modern fabrication. Encased in a sleek 37mm monopusher design, the watch pays homage to the vintage vibes of the brand while boasting an impressive view both from the front and the rear.

Founded in 1891 by the Stoltz brothers, Angelus has quite a legacy. Their first in-house monopusher chronograph launched in 1925, setting the brand apart as a pioneer in horological craftsmanship during a time when many competitors sourced movements externally. The new Chronographe Télémètre encapsulates this storied past with a stunning blend of mechanical engineering and elegant vintage aesthetics.

The watch is available in either a robust steel or luxurious 18k yellow gold case, measuring just 9.25mm in thickness, and showcases a striking lug design highlighted with brushed finishes contrasted by polished bevels. To accentuate its vintage appeal, a box sapphire crystal rises gracefully above the bezel, protecting the intricately designed dial.

The beautifully crafted domed dial features a bi-compax layout, complete with recessed snailed counters: one at the 3 o'clock position for 30-minute elapsed times and another at the 9 o'clock for small seconds. The precision of the design is enhanced by a satin-brushed telemeter scale around the edge, which splays elegantly out from the grained center. With applied indices and Arabic numerals finished in either 3N gold or black rhodium, the dial is further enhanced by syringe-style hour and minute hands coated with glowing Super-LumiNova.

As for the color options, the 18k yellow gold version presents an off-white, almost nickel-hued dial, while the steel variant offers a breathtaking choice between a bronze rose dial or a titanium grey dial. These captivating color choices elevate the watch's sophistication and charm.

Powering this exquisite timepiece is the in-house A5000 integrated manual-winding monopusher chronograph movement, crafted by La Joux-Perret. The movement’s stunning artistry, which reveals its gears, levers, springs, and a column wheel, is a hallmark of classic watchmaking. This 4.4mm thick movement showcases a two-tone aesthetic, with golden finishes on the mainplate and bridges contrasted by palladium used for the chronograph components. Operating at a frequency of 3Hz, the chronograph employs a column wheel and horizontal clutch, embodying the timeless mechanics of watches from the golden era of the 1940s to 1970s.

The Angelus Chronographe Télémètre is elegantly presented on a calfskin strap, available in shades of blue, grey, or sage, and finished with a pin buckle in either steel or yellow gold. Limited to just 15 pieces, the gold variant retails at CHF 32,300 (including VAT), while the two variants in steel, limited to 25 pieces each, are priced at CHF 17,900 (including VAT).

With its rich heritage and a perfect blend of vintage and modern aesthetics, the Angelus Chronographe Télémètre is poised to become a must-have for collectors and enthusiasts alike! Don’t miss out on the chance to own a piece of horological history!
