Unseasonably Warm Temperatures Embrace Newfoundland and Labrador This Week!
As the calendar edges closer to spring, Newfoundland and parts of Labrador are experiencing a delightful prelude to the new season with unusually warm temperatures. With mercurial highs expected to reach double digits, residents are in for some significant melting of snow and ice, providing a refreshing break from the winter chill.
Meteorologist Rob Carroll notes that while many areas across Newfoundland are in for a nice warm-up, those located near onshore winds may still contend with cooler conditions. The coastal regions will witness persistent drizzle and fog today, but further inland, residents can anticipate gleaming sunny breaks and warmth, with temperatures soaring to the low double digits.
What’s more, forecasts from Environment Canada indicate that temperatures will remain above freezing for much of the week, including during the nighttime hours. This incredible warming trend isn’t just confined to Newfoundland; central and southern Labrador are also set to bask in the pleasantness, reaching highs of around eleven degrees Celsius today.
Meanwhile, further afield in Ontario, the warm spell has also made headlines, with temperatures rising into the high teens over the weekend, indicating a widespread shift in seasonal weather patterns.
Could this early warm-up be a sign of more to come? Is winter finally giving way to spring? Keep an eye on those thermometers; it looks like the season of blooms and warmth might just be around the corner!
