Big news for tech lovers! While we didn’t receive major updates about the highly anticipated Gemini at the recent I/O 2025 event, the Google Home app has just unveiled an exciting new feature: the "Voice Assistant Experiments" setting, specifically tailored for Gemini.

This innovative setting allows those in the Google Home Public Preview with Nest Aware to activate "Experimental AI features"—involving a seamless integration of Google Assistant with Gemini. Users can easily locate this feature by tapping the lab beaker icon at the top right of the app!

Right now, this feature is only available on Android devices. If you venture into the Settings tab of the Google Home app, you’ll find the new "Voice Assistant Experiments" menu nestled between Google Assistant and Presence Sensing.

But what does this mean for users? It provides options to manage how Assistant Experiments can be accessed across eligible devices in your home. There’s a convenient high-level setting to enable Assistant experiments, alongside two access options: 1. **Require Voice Match**: Only adults who have set up Voice Match can access these features. 2. **Everyone**: Open access for all, including guests and those who haven’t set up Voice Match.

During the recent "At The Android Show: I/O Edition," Google announced a significant branding shift as the Gemini experience will no longer be referred to as Google Assistant on Google TV.

Although testing is currently underway on Nest Audio and Mini, Google still refers to the enhanced upgrade using the Gemini model simply as the Assistant, leaving fans curious about possible changes upon the launch.

The only nod to this new feature during I/O 2025 was a blog post briefly mentioning the Home Summary Widget for Pixel, hinting at upcoming enhancements. Google teased how Gemini will revolutionize the voice experience across smart speakers, displays, and Google TV, promising more natural interactions, deeper topic explorations, device control, and even the potential for voice-activated automation.

Stay tuned for further updates! As Google continues to refine its products, users can expect groundbreaking advancements that will change how we interact with our smart home devices.
