Ever been locked out of your work computer? The frantic search for IT support can be a nightmare, especially when help desk staff are overwhelmed, leading to frustrating delays. But what if there was a way to break this cycle?

Andrei Serban, a visionary once leading the apps and integrations team at Rippling, recognized the heavy toll that mundane IT tasks take on productivity. After Rippling acquired his coding security startup Fuzzbuzz, Serban set out to change the game. He envisioned an innovative solution that would use AI to automate routine help desk duties — from resetting passwords to troubleshooting.

In a bold move, Serban left Rippling last year to launch Console, a startup dedicated to freeing IT teams from monotonous tasks. By automating these processes, he aims to empower help desk professionals to focus on more strategic and impactful projects.

Unlike other automation platforms that require lengthy installations, Console differentiates itself with its seamless integration with Slack, allowing its AI assistant to be deployed across companies in just weeks. “We’re able to get there so fast because we don’t require you to replace your help desk,” Serban stated.

Console positions itself as an AI collaborator, enhancing the capabilities of existing help desk staff. As businesses increasingly embrace digital solutions, Serban believes the role of IT will only grow in importance.

With Console, employees can message the AI directly on Slack, and it swiftly addresses requests, already familiar with the user's device and software access. Impressively, Console's AI handles over 50% of requests independently, only escalating more complex issues to human IT staff.

The appeal of fast integration has attracted notable clients, including Scale AI, Flock Safety, and Calendly, providing a strong foundation for Console to secure an impressive $6.2 million in seed funding from Thrive Capital.

Vince Hankes, a partner at Thrive, emphasized the firm’s belief in AI's potential to transform IT operations since the arrival of ChatGPT in late 2022. While he acknowledges that the quick setup might raise concerns about Console’s replaceability, he’s confident that as user adoption grows, Console will evolve into an essential part of the IT infrastructure for its clients.

Looking toward the future, Console aims to branch out and assist with other business functions, including HR, finance, and legal inquiries. “We want Console to be an employee’s first call for help,” Serban declares.
