In an impressive achievement, United Way British Columbia (United Way BC), a prominent non-profit organization based in Burnaby, has secured a spot on the prestigious list of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2025-26, released by Mediacorp Canada Inc. This marks United Way BC's second consecutive inclusion in this distinguished recognition.

Michael McKnight, President and CEO of United Way BC, expressed his pride in the organization’s strong workplace culture, which has been cultivated since their amalgamation in 2021. “I am incredibly proud to lead such a talented and committed group of individuals that not only meet but exceed expectations,” McKnight stated in a news release. “We have once again demonstrated that when we come together, there's no challenge we can't overcome.”

United Way BC’s mission focuses on creating a diverse, community-oriented, and purpose-driven team that reflects the values of the organization. The Top 100 Employers list evaluates organizations based on eight critical criteria: community involvement, workplace atmosphere, benefits, vacation policies, employee communication, performance management, and training opportunities.

As Canada’s workforce evolves, the recognition is increasingly aligned with modern workforce expectations. Kristina Leung, spokesperson for the Top 100 Employers, noted, “We see the competition winners adapting to reflect how Canada is changing. The best employers understand that traditional benefits—such as paid time off for religious holidays, robust health benefits, and cultural events—must evolve to accurately represent the needs and diversity of today’s workforce.”

This marks 25 years of Canada’s Top 100 Employers highlighting organizations that excel in creating outstanding work environments. United Way BC’s commitment to fostering a supportive and innovative workplace not only enhances employee satisfaction but also strengthens community support initiatives, ultimately driving greater impact in the regions they serve.
