On April 5, two 19-year-old Belgians were caught red-handed with a staggering 5,000 live Messor Cephalotes ants, also known as the Giant African Harvester Ant. These ants were cleverly packed in 2,244 syringes and test tubes filled with cotton wool, valued at an impressive 1 million shillings (approximately $7,700 or €6,819). The tubes were ingeniously modified to prolong the ants’ survival for up to two months, skillfully evading security at airports.
