Transforming Lives with Innovative Treatments

With a PhD in biological sciences from U of A and a stint as a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institutes of Health, Van Goor joined Vertex Pharmaceuticals in 2001. As the VP and head of cystic fibrosis research, he spearheaded the development of five licensed medications, including the groundbreaking Trikafta. This innovative therapy is a powerful blend of three drugs, transforming the lives of approximately 90% of cystic fibrosis patients globally.

Continuing the Fight

While Trikafta is already a game-changer, Van Goor is not resting on his laurels. He is actively working on new treatments for patients who do not respond to current therapies, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to improving patient outcomes.

A Legacy of Knowledge and Mentorship

In addition to his hands-on research, Van Goor has authored over 40 peer-reviewed articles and contributed six book chapters on cystic fibrosis and ion channel drug discovery.
