Police Reveal Identity of Maple Ridge Shooting Victim

In a chilling development from Maple Ridge, police have officially identified the victim of a tragic shooting that occurred last month.

Shortly after midnight on August 13, officers from the Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of 246 Street and 124 Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered a victim, later identified as 24-year-old Austin Baillie, who was found unresponsive inside a vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds.

IHIT Takes Over Investigation

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) stepped in to take charge of the case, intensifying efforts to get to the bottom of this alarming incident. In an update, IHIT linked the shooting to potential targeting, urging anyone who knew Baillie or has relevant information to step forward.

Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi emphasized the need for community assistance in this investigation. "Investigators are looking to speak with those who knew Mr. Baillie and may have information related to this homicide," Dhesi stated, reinforcing the belief that this was not a random act of violence.
