The tragic fire occurred in the self-contained cottage that Rory called home in Malibu, which was completely consumed by flames. In a desperate bid to save her son, she reportedly drove a quarter of a mile to reach him after being unable to contact emergency services.

"My heart is shattered. I couldn’t put out the cinders on his roof with a hose because the water was switched off. When the fire department brought me back, his cottage was burnt to the ground," she told 10 News.
