A Heartbreaking Incident on the Roads

In a devastating turn of events, a logging truck overturned in Strong Township, leading to the untimely death of a Huntsville resident. The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating this tragic single-vehicle accident.

The Early Morning Accident

At the crack of dawn on Sunday, September 14, 2025, around 7 a.m., emergency responders rushed to the scene following reports of the rollover on the southbound on-ramp from Highway 124 to Highway 11. The response team included the Almaguin Highlands OPP, North Bay Ambulance, and the Sundridge-Strong Fire Department.

A Life Cut Short

The driver, a 70-year-old man from Huntsville, was quickly transported to the hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. A passenger who was also aboard the logging truck sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the hospital.

Investigation Underway

To uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragic event, the OPP’s Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team is involved in the investigation. Emergency crews were on the scene for a significant time, resulting in the closure of the southbound on-ramp to Highway 11 for approximately 12 hours.
