In a devastating early morning incident on May 20, 2025, a pedestrian lost his life after being hit by a vehicle on Highway 11, just south of MacDowall.

Paramedics from Parkland Ambulance arrived at the scene to discover a man deceased, with injuries indicative of a vehicle impact. Authorities, including the RCMP, confirmed the incident occurred in the southbound lanes of the highway.

As of now, the identity of the victim has not been released, pending formal identification processes.

The emergency call was received at 2:07 AM, prompting an immediate investigation led by the General Investigative Section (GIS). Investigators are focused on locating the vehicle believed to be involved—a black Jeep, which is likely to have sustained front end damage.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have dashcam or surveillance footage captured from Highway 11 between midnight and 2:15 AM to come forward. They are also seeking information from anyone who was on the road at that time or has knowledge about the black Jeep.
