The collision occurred in Buck Bay at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, leading to instant grief as Juliette Côté (22), Riley Orr (23), and Kaila Bearman (21) were pronounced dead at the scene. Charges Filed

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have announced that a 27-year-old man from South Frontenac Township is facing serious charges under the Canada Shipping Act. These charges include significant violations for safety standards on the water, specifically "failing to exhibit stern light on power-driven vessel underway," "failing to exhibit sidelights on power-driven vessel underway," and "operating non-human-powered pleasure craft without an appropriate personal flotation device or lifejacket for each individual on board." The accused's identity has not been revealed, but he is set to appear in Provincial Offences Court in Kingston on January 13.

Previous Arrest

Earlier this October, law enforcement arrested Matthew Splinter, 44, also from South Frontenac Township. His charges are extensive and grave, totaling over a dozen counts linked to the tragic incident. These include three counts of impaired operation causing death, three counts of impaired operation causing bodily harm, as well as three counts each of dangerous operation of a conveyance leading to death and bodily harm.
