The collision occurred on January 9 in the parking lot of a shopping plaza located at the intersection of Warden Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East.

Toronto police reported that the woman was struck by a grey Volkswagen Atlas while it was navigating the lot at the time of the accident. The driver of the vehicle did not stop to render assistance and fled the scene, leaving the elderly woman in dire condition.
