In a troubling turn of events, a 37-year-old man from Toronto, identified as Victory Ogih, has been apprehended for two shocking assaults that authorities are calling "unprovoked." These incidents unfolded in North York earlier this week, leaving the community on edge.

Police were alerted around 8:50 p.m. on Thursday, responding to a chaotic scene at the intersection of Weston Road and Finch Avenue. Reports indicate that Ogih first targeted a man who was peacefully sitting with his family, launching an unexpected barrage of punches and even using a weapon during the attack.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and required hospitalization, according to police reports.

But the terrifying events didn’t end there. After this initial assault, Ogih allegedly struck another individual who attempted to step in and diffuse the situation, leading to more injuries, though again, they were non-life-threatening.

Victory Ogih now faces serious charges, including assault, two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of causing bodily harm, and multiple counts of violating a release order. His court appearance occurred on Friday; however, it’s important to remember that these charges have yet to be tested in a court of law.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have more information or may have witnessed the incidents to come forward as they believe there might be additional victims. The community continues to grapple with the shock of these sudden acts of violence.
