Tesla Driver Targeted: A Shocking Case of Road Rage and Political Blame

What started as an ordinary morning for Petar Ostojic quickly turned bizarre as he dropped his son Ben off at Chippewa Secondary School.

While stopped at a red light at O'Brien and High Street, things took a shocking turn. Ostojic noticed a car tailgating them aggressively.

"As soon as I cleared the intersection, the driver started honking furiously," explained Ostojic, who feared there might be an issue with his vehicle.

Yet, instead of a mechanical concern, the situation escalated when the other driver gestured obscenely and continued to honk. After dropping his son off, Ostojic followed the aggressive driver, only to be met with an outrageous accusation.

"He yelled at me, 'You're driving a Nazi car,' and gave me the finger again," recalled a stunned Ostojic. This shocking insult stemmed entirely from his choice of vehicle—a Tesla.

In recent times, Tesla owners across North America have found themselves at the center of unwanted scrutiny, particularly after controversial statements from CEO Elon Musk. His political affiliations have sparked a wave of public anger, leading to vandalism against Tesla vehicles and charging stations—not something usually seen in peaceful North Bay.

Ostojic, however, insists that his Tesla is not a political statement. "I've been driving my Tesla since long before all of this erupted in the States. I live in Canada, and it's hard to believe that this is happening here."

He’s not alone in this experience. A friend of his, also a Tesla owner from North Bay, has faced similar hostility, being told to abandon his vehicle over its make.

"It’s outrageous that people think they can dictate what cars we should drive," Ostojic stated. "I don’t engage with politics, but I wish people would educate themselves. It's none of anyone's business what car someone drives, and violence is never the solution."

Captured on video, Ostojic documented the incident and reached out to the Ontario Provincial Police about potential charges against the driver. Unsurprisingly, Ostojic has no desire to escalate the situation further.

This incident raises broader questions about the impact of political tensions on everyday life—especially for those simply trying to go about their day.
