In a shocking turn of events, a man allegedly at the wheel of a stolen vehicle that crashed into a TTC bus, injuring nine people, is now facing even more serious charges linked to a violent home invasion spree across Mississauga and Brampton.

On November 13, 2024, chaos erupted when five suspects broke into a home near Dundas Street West and Mississauga Road around 2:30 a.m., stealing the homeowner’s car keys and making their escape in his vehicle. Just an hour later, they struck again, forcing their way into another house near Countryside Drive and Goreway Drive in Brampton, stealing several valuables before vanishing into the night.

But the spree escalated dramatically. Later that same day, the gang confronted victims in another Brampton residence, brandishing a firearm and demanding car keys before making off with their vehicle!

Peel Regional Police identified one of the ring leaders as 32-year-old Anestan Ganeshamoorthy from Pickering on April 17, 2025. He’s now facing serious charges, including robbery, two counts of break and enter, and three counts of wearing a disguise during the commission of a crime. Notably, he was already under judicial release for similar offences at the time of his arrest.

This latest criminal drama intertwines with Ganeshamoorthy’s involvement in a major crash on November 18, 2024, when he allegedly sped through an intersection in a stolen white BMW, colliding with a TTC bus. The crash left nine injured: four occupants of the BMW, including the driver, sustained serious injuries, while five individuals on the bus, including the driver, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The Toronto Police Association revealed disturbing links, stating that two of the BMW’s occupants were out on bail, one of whom was connected to a violent robbery. TPA President Clayton Campbell confirmed that the stolen BMW had been linked to a carjacking incident in Peel Region prior to the crash.
