The stage is set for an exhilarating 51st PLAYERS Championship, and Alejandro Tosti provided an unforgettable moment on the eve of the event. During a practice round on Wednesday, he achieved a breathtaking hole-in-one at the iconic 17th hole, famously known as the island green.

Using a 52-degree wedge from 133 yards, Tosti expertly directed the ball, which initially landed beyond the hole before spinning back to drop directly into the cup. Overwhelmed with joy, Tosti followed through on a playful promise made earlier—if he aced No. 17, he would dive into the water. After a light-hearted push from his caddie, Tosti took a graceful plunge into the water, delighting the crowd that erupted into cheers as he resurfaced with his arms raised in triumph. The moment was heartwarming as he shared a congratulatory hug with his caddie, celebrating this incredible milestone.

Tosti’s achievement was particularly special as it was the second hole-in-one of the day at No. 17. Earlier, JJ Jakovac, caddie for star golfer Collin Morikawa, had made the first-ever ace during the 26-year history of THE PLAYERS' caddie challenge, an initiative that raises funds for ALS research.

Reflecting on his spectacular shot, Tosti shared, “I heard there was another hole-in-one earlier, and my caddie said, ‘You can use the slope.’ I hit it in the slope and thought, ‘No way this is going in!’ I looked at my friend, and as the ball started rolling back towards the hole, I couldn’t believe it. I immediately knew I had to jump in the water. I was so happy!”

After completing his practice round with the traditional rituals of analyzing green contours, Tosti radiated joy as he posed for pictures and engaged with local media. Originally from Argentina, Tosti has lived in Gainesville, Florida, for about a decade but had never experienced THE PLAYERS as a fan until now. Last year, as a rookie on the PGA TOUR, he finished 137th in the FedExCup Fall standings and earned his position in this year's tournament by progressing through the Final Stage of PGA TOUR Q-School. Currently ranked 116th in the FedExCup standings, Tosti secured his coveted spot at THE PLAYERS Championship.

Tosti’s journey began in his native Argentina, where as a child, he learned golf using a charcoal stick and a ping-pong ball, turning it into a fun competition with his brother. At just eight years old, he would travel an hour on a bus to practice at a nearby public golf course, guided by his father on navigating public transport.

"I’ve witnessed so much in my golf journey, including lip-outs and balls that go in and out of the hole,” Tosti reflected, noting that this was his first ace in a career spanning two decades, with only one previous hole-in-one in a PGA TOUR Latinoamerica event. “Today marked a new milestone for me.”

As the excitement builds for the incoming PLAYERS Championship, Tosti’s unforgettable moment adds to the allure of this legendary tournament.
