In a deeply concerning development, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, founder of the separatist group Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), has publicly declared plans for targeted attacks on Hindu temples in Canada, specifically aiming at Indian diplomats. This declaration comes in the wake of tensions surrounding the assassination of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, with Pannun blaming Indian officials for the incident.

Pannun has set the dates for these planned attacks on November 16-17, targeting specific temples including the Kalibari Mandir in Mississauga and Triveni Mandir in Brampton. In a bold statement, he exclaimed, “We will shake the foundations of Ayodhya,” as he criticized the Canadian government for its supposed inaction against Indian espionage within the Sikh community.

The situation has prompted serious alarm from Indian sources, who have labeled these threats as nothing short of "terror acts." They voiced frustration over the perceived leniency of the Canadian government in handling these extremist threats, indicating that the recent incidents might have fueled a systematic breakdown in diplomatic relations between India and Canada. Indian intelligence indicated that these threats are being masked as expressions of freedom of speech, but they strongly disagree, insisting that they are acts of terror.

Further complicating matters, recent footage surfaced showing officers from Surrey Police engaged in sword-fighting under the Khalistani flag—a scene that has raised significant concerns regarding the impartiality of law enforcement agencies in Canada. Government sources commented on the disturbing implications, stating that such actions seem to validate accusations that radical elements have infiltrated Canadian police forces.

Moreover, reports have emerged of violent confrontations in which Khalistani mobs have actively sought out members of the Hindu community. In one alarming incident, a group wielding swords sought out Hindus in vehicles, with little to no response from the Canadian authorities.

Attacks against Hindu temples have escalated over the past year, including a troubling shooting incident at the residence of Satish Sharma, president of Surrey’s Lakshmi Narayan Mandir. Most recently on November 3, clashes erupted at a Hindu temple in Brampton, where protesters waving Khalistani flags confronted devotees, leading to violence not only in that instance but also against the Lakshmi Narayan Mandir in Surrey.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vocally condemned the escalating violence, especially the deliberate attacks on Hindu places of worship in Canada. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he stated, “I strongly condemn the deliberate attack on a Hindu temple in Canada. Equally appalling are the cowardly attempts to intimidate our diplomats. Such acts of violence will never weaken India’s resolve. We expect the Canadian government to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law.”

As these tensions simmer, the eyes of the international community remain focused on both governments to see how this situation unfolds and whether decisive actions will be taken to protect the rights and safety of all individuals involved.
