Peel Regional Police have taken swift action, charging four suspects linked to a disturbing series of violent robberies in Brampton. These crimes specifically targeted South Asian individuals, with a worrying focus on members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

A Deceptive Trap Uncovered!

Between April and May 2025, unsuspecting victims were lured via social media for in-person meetups, only to face terrifying robberies—some at gunpoint! Authorities have uncovered that the suspects exploited victims' identities to set these traps.

Recent Arrests Made!

On May 31, police acted promptly, arresting 20-year-old Abhijot Singh from Brampton and 21-year-old Ridhampreet Singh from Mississauga. Their arrests are just the beginning in what police hope will be a crackdown on these heinous acts.

Search Warrants Lead to More Arrests!

In a follow-up operation on July 4, investigators executed multiple search warrants throughout Peel Region. This led to the arrest of 18-year-old Hardil Singh Mehrok of Brampton, along with two male youths aged 16 and 17. They now face serious charges, including kidnapping and robbery, and remain in custody awaiting their bail hearings.

Ongoing Investigation and Hate Crime Consideration!

An arrest warrant has also been issued for 20-year-old Preetpal Kooner of Mississauga, linked to these same offenses. The Crown Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing the situation to see if hate-motivated charges are appropriate.
