In an astonishing turn of events, Marius Borg Hoiby, the 28-year-old son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been charged with a staggering range of crimes, including the rape of four women and domestic violence. This shocking news comes after a lengthy yearlong police investigation.

Trial on the Horizon

Hoiby, who is also the stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, is bracing for trial slated for early next year. If convicted of the most serious allegations, he could be facing up to 10 years behind bars. State attorney Sturla Henriksbo announced that the trial could kick off around mid-January and is projected to last approximately six weeks.

Refuting the Accusations

Although Hoiby denies the grave charges of rape and domestic violence, his lawyer, Petar Sekulic, revealed that he intends to plead guilty to some lesser offenses. Among the 32 charges brought against him is one count of rape involving sexual intercourse and three counts without, with some acts reportedly filmed on his phone. Back in August, Hoiby acknowledged causing bodily harm during an incident involving Haukland, admitting to acts of violence fueled by cocaine and alcohol consumption. He expressed remorse at that time, but the revelations continued to spiral as he was previously detained for a week last November amid police inquiries.

Connections to Crime and Controversy

Adding to the unsettling narrative, reports indicate Hoiby has socialized with notorious figures, including gang members and Hells Angels bikers, prompting police to reach out to him earlier this year regarding his associations with 'notorious criminals.' This isn't Hoiby’s first brush with the law, as he was arrested in 2017 for drug use at a music festival.
