According to 9to5Google, users have taken to Reddit to share screenshots of the frustrating error that states, “Untrusted device” and goes on to suggest that the device "couldn’t be verified," potentially due to outdated firmware.

This troubling development has left many users uneasy, fearing that Google might be phasing out these older streaming gadgets. Back in 2023, Google officially discontinued the original Chromecast, and the fear is that the same fate might await these beloved devices.
