A Close Call at Port Moody

In a startling incident on Tuesday morning, a West Coast Express train collided with a pickup truck near Reed Point Marina in Port Moody, leaving the driver injured. The unfortunate event led to significant delays for the train services as emergency responders rushed to the scene.

Driver's Condition and Scene Response

According to Constable Sam Zacharias from the Port Moody Police Department, the driver was forcibly ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Firefighters were already attending to him when police arrived. "He sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries," Zacharias confirmed, shedding light on the driver's precarious situation.

Investigation and Safety Protocols

The train remained halted for about an hour, causing some disruption as first responders worked diligently at the scene. Zacharias pointed out, "We are currently assisting CP (Canadian Pacific Railway) police, as the investigation falls under their jurisdiction."

Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver may have failed to yield to the active train signals and barriers at the crossing. Fortunately, officials believe that impairment was not a contributing factor to the crash.
