Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dallas (Dale) Morgan (nee Green) on December 20, 2024, at the age of 80. After a noble struggle with Lewy Body Dementia, she now finds peace, surrounded by the love of her family.

Family

Dallas was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Arthur and Annie Green, as well as her brother, Clarence, her sister, Melvy Barnes, and numerous other family members. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 59 years, Nelson Morgan, alongside her children Roxanne (Gerard), Chris (Janet), and Nancy (Chris). Dallas was also cherished by her four grandchildren: Andrew (Rhiana), Zac (Kristen), Nick (Nicole), and her cherished granddaughter, Gianna (Leo). She is survived by a loving extended family, including siblings Don (Ina), Beatrice, Emily, Eileen, Mary, Silas (Carol), and Roy (Suzette), along with a large circle of nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Her Compassion

As the eldest of ten children, Dallas embodied compassion. Her heart was larger than life, always ensuring that others were taken care of—even in her own exhaustion. Her acts of kindness knew no bounds, oftentimes performed without the desire for recognition, demonstrating her humility and grace.

Career

In her more than 40 years in the fast-food industry, Dallas's rise from worker to manager showcased her exceptional work ethic and dedication. After retiring at 64, she returned to work at Moo Moo’s Ice Cream in St. John’s, earning the affectionate title of the “oldest young person there.” Her vibrant spirit and tenacity earned her the admiration of many, including her coworkers, whom she often outpaced with her zeal.

Family Bonds

Dallas’s love and support for her family extended beyond borders, as she remained deeply involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments and adventures near and far. Her cherished grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she relished their visits to Newfoundland.

Hobbies and Skills

A lover of games, Dallas was notorious for her bingo skills, often playing multiple cards with fervor. Her talent in the kitchen was equally renowned—her date squares became a family favorite. Moreover, she shared a profound bond with her son-in-law Gerard Ryan, who treated her like his own mother.

Legacy and Care

Even during her battle with dementia, Dallas's intelligence and humor shined brightly, often bringing joy and laughter to those around her. Her family is immensely grateful for the exceptional care provided by the staff at Pleasant View Towers over the last 17 months, who held a special place in her heart.

Visitation and Donations

Cremation has taken place, and the family will welcome visitors on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from 2–4 PM and 7–9 PM at Carnell’s Funeral Home. A private family ceremony will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to a charity of your choice in Dallas’s name. She would have wanted to inspire conversations about kindness, urging everyone to perform random acts of kindness, expecting nothing in return.

Conclusion

Dallas Morgan’s legacy of love, kindness, and strength will forever resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
