In a dramatic turn of events, the self-styled ‘Queen of Canada’, Romana Didulo, has been granted bail following a shocking police raid on her Saskatchewan compound. The release comes with strict conditions that restrict her freedoms and movements.
Bail Conditions and Controversy Surrounding Didulo
Didulo, 50, must adhere to several strict stipulations, including a ban on entering the village of Richmound, where tensions with local residents have escalated. Following reports of harassment against municipal staff, the village office has restricted public access to prearranged appointments only.
At her court appearance, Didulo had minimal interaction with reporters, merely greeting them with her trademark phrase, ‘Grand rising, everyone,’ while asserting that she’s ‘doing well’.
Serious Charges and Community Backlash
Charged with breaching a court order and attempting to intimidate a participant in the justice system, Didulo's situation is serious. The judge outlined her bail conditions: she must remain at a designated residence in Regina, can’t have contact with fellow members of her group known as the Kingdom of Canada, and is prohibited from entering Richmound, which is at least 50 kilometers away.
The raid on her compound, a former school, led to the arrest of Didulo and 15 other followers. Police reports indicate the seizure of 13 imitation semi-automatic handguns and various electronic devices. Though initially released, Didulo was rearrested for allegedly violating conditions not to contact a co-accused.
