COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — In a nail-biting showdown that felt like a match play duel, Padraig Harrington emerged victorious at the U.S. Senior Open, wrapping up his round with an impressive seven straight pars.

Playing alongside Stewart Cink for the fourth consecutive day, Harrington shot a 3-under 67, finishing at 11-under 269 on the formidable Broadmoor course. The Irish star made a key approach shot to 8 feet on the final hole, putting the pressure squarely on Cink, who was positioned 30 yards ahead on the fairway.

Cink faced a daunting challenge as his approach came to rest a staggering 35 feet from the hole following a tricky spin that left him needing two putts to finish.

Meanwhile, Harrington maintained his composure and two-putted for victory, though the Broadmoor certainly tested both players throughout the match.

Cink had earlier opportunities to draw even with close attempts from inside six feet on both the 16th and 17th holes, only to see them slip by, one burning the edge and the other veering left. Despite hitting more greens than anyone else during the tournament, Cink realized too late that the putting game was what mattered most this week.

In the end, Cink's two-putts more than Harrington’s on the final day proved to be the deciding factor in this tight contest.

With this victory, Harrington secures his second U.S. Senior Open title in just four years, adding to an impressive trophy case that already includes two Open Championships and a PGA Championship.

The only other notable contender in this tight race was Miguel Angel Jiménez, who struggled at first with a bogey but rebounded with an impressive eight birdies. However, a wayward tee shot on the 18th led to a bogey, ultimately finishing him two shots behind Harrington in third place.

Celebrating his 54th birthday, Mark Hensby failed to capture the earlier magic that garnered 19 birdies in the first three rounds, ending the day at 3-over 73, tying for fourth.

Harrington’s day was highlighted by a notable 12-foot birdie putt on the par-4 11th that solidified his lead. His exceptional play throughout the tournament — including a pivotal chip-in that set the stage for this final round — showcased why he is among the elite in senior golf.

Cink may have fallen short in his first U.S. Senior Open, but his consistent performance throughout the week marked him as a formidable player on the PGA TOUR Champions, with brighter days ahead.
